How Important is Travel Insurance?

Travelling is one of the best experiences you can have; new world, new culture, new people and so many things to explore. Not only does it make you stress-free, but you come alive! Travelling without insurance, however, is a bad idea. Once the aeroplane tosses your luggage, it often gets misplaced and lost. Travel insurance helps you to manage the losses in an effective way. It is strongly advisable that you go for travel insurance.

One of the most common causes of taking travel insurance is lost luggage, which is done by the mishandling of the aeroplane authority. Travel insurance ensures that the value of your lost items is well covered and paid to you by the authority, in case they are not able to recover your lost luggage. Travel insurance also provides cashless facilities at hospitals. So if you happen to fall sick during your travel, you can get yourself checked in a hospital and get treated right away.

Travel Insurance also takes care of other factors like:

  • Flight delays and cancellation – when your vacation plans are destroyed by flight cancellations, you can claim a certain amount of insurance amount for your losses.

  • Loss of your wallet – In case you are on a trip, be it a vacation or a road trip, your wallet can get misplaced or stolen. Some insurance companies offer a road trip cover in case of such losses.

  • Loss of passport – losing your passport can be a major setback. While on an international trip, some travel insurance provides duplicate passport and emergency cash, so that you can get back to your country and do the needful.

  • Loss of Debit cards / Credit cards – the whole world believes in going cashless, especially when travelling. However, in some cases, you misplace your cards or it gets stolen. Some insurance has the facility to provide temporary cards in case of such emergencies.
